Description The Centre for Interdisciplinary Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (CIDSAI) at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a highly motivated Junior Research Scientist to work on topics in the theoretical foundations of data science and AI. The selected candidate will be part of the Foundations Cluster of CIDSAI and will collaborate closely with Professor Saurabh Ray, and Professor Pierre Youssef. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong mathematical background and expertise in one or more of the following areas: High-dimensional probability and concentration/functional inequalities Markov processes and stochastic analysis Theoretical analysis of neural networks and deep learning Foundations of reinforcement learning and bandit algorithms Mathematical and algorithmic perspectives on large language models Statistical learning theory and complexity analysis Automated theorem proving and formal methods Random matrix theory and its applications in modern AI systems The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal. The School is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking fashion lecturer to teach at the intersection of design, business strategy and creative direction in fashion. The ideal candidate will bring substantial industry experience within the fashion system, alongside a strong pedagogical approach that integrates critical thinking, creative practice and commercial awareness. This role requires an educator who understands fashion not only as a creative discipline, but as a cultural and economic system, and who can guide students in navigating the full life cycle of fashion, from concept and design to product development, branding and market positioning. The successful candidate should demonstrate expertise and the ability to teach across a combination of the following areas: Design and creative practice: Visual identity, branding and art direction. Creative business integration: Design-led innovation, business thinking, and translating concepts to market across brand, product and experience. Fashion business strategy and management: Brand development, fashion marketing, communication and digital platforms, fashion management and product development, entrepreneurship and start-up models, supply chain and production systems, as well as sustainability and ethical business models. As lecturer, your key responsibilities include academic preparation, teaching and the delivery of specialised knowledge and skills, as well as cognitive-based content, to ensure students’ learning objectives are met. You will work collaboratively with teams within/across programmes and the Faculty to enhance the strategic and organisational plans and ensure that the programme achieves its strategic ambitions and objectives. Other responsibilities include coordinating academic learning activities, academic administration and organisation, providing feedback on assignments, conducting assessments and marking, and student mentoring and recruitment. You will also contribute to the academic development of the programme, work as part of a team, and be involved in specific programme activities, projects, exhibitions and other cross-faculty initiatives. Requirements: Postgraduate qualification, preferably at PhD level, or equivalent in a relevant discipline. At least five years of tertiary-level teaching experience with knowledge of the Higher Education Quality Assurance Framework and at least three years of full-time relevant professional practice. For Senior Lecturer, at least nine years and above or the equivalent of postgraduate teaching experience in practice-based arts at tertiary level and six years of proven track record of professional experience in related design fields and/or tertiary design education with a PhD qualification. Substantive professional practice in the areas of visual identity, branding, and art direction, creative direction as strategic practice, translating concept to market: brand, product, and experience, fashion marketing, communication and/or related fields of design. Fluency in English and the Chinese language (written and spoken). A passion for teaching with the ability to nurture and encourage excellence in teaching and student learning. Possess excellent communication, organisational and team working skills and academic administrative skills. A positive attitude to research, and preferably a personal research profile. Working directly with the Head of Procurement you will have a crucial role in managing the procurement process, ensuring cost effective purchasing, managing internal and external relationships, and ensuring adherence to Financial Regulations. You will work within the wider Finance Function, and in partnership with academic, technical and professional services staff, as part of the central procurement function at LJMU. You will lead on procurement projects for goods and services as allocated, being responsible for the preparation and delivery of all stages of the procurement cycle. You will aim at ensuring continuity of supply, delivering value for money, influencing the wider impact of procurement and the sustainability/reduction in scope 3 carbon emissions. You will also manage commercial and legislative risk relating to Procurement. You will be a key contact for individual faculties and departments, responsible for providing procurement advice, guidance and training on LJMU systems (e-procurement, e-tendering and procurement cards). You will hold a degree-level qualification, or equivalent professional experience, along with extensive experience of managing complex tendering processes. Significant experience of internal financial regulations and UK public procurement legislation is also key as well as knowledge and experience of procurement tendering systems, strong problem-solving skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Whilst not essential, a CIPS qualification (or working towards CIPS) is desirable.
